Big Big Changes for this Homesteading Family!

It has been a stressful process but we finally have found a new farm! It took a very long time looking to find the perfect home that would fit us all and we finally did so this weekend. Although we will be loosing acreage, we will be gaining a larger house, a separate school room and good grazing pastures. It's such a relief to know that once we move we will not have to pick up and move again!
So currently here on the homestead we are busily weeding our gardens, packing and looking for a reliable moving company. Not to mention that I have been busy in the kitchen making all types of jam for our winter storage.
In the garden our squash and pumpkin plants are all growing flowers, the tomato plants up in the front garden are growing great although the field garden tomatoes are a bit behind. Onions are everywhere, we planted 2000 and just added another 2000 this past week to make sure I have an abundance for canning.  Every second week we have been harvesting radishes and our Swiss chard just keeps growing! All and all it seems to be growing well. I feel bad for a lot of our neighbors who lost many crops and have some still under water due to frost and the crazy amounts of rain this past June, but am sure blessed that our crops are doing well.
Now that life is a little less stressful I am hoping to be back online more to update you with both our fails and success while we learn to become more self-sufficient.
